SIGNS / 01
Drain Pipe Issues
Drain pipe symptoms and equipment conditions vary depending on the model, installation environment, and store operations. The examples below are intended to help organize the situation when making an inquiry. If there is a safety risk, follow the store or facility’s safety procedures before doing any work or taking photos.
Slow drainage
Record whether the issue is limited to one location or affects several, and whether it varies by usage or time of day. It is important not to assume the cause is limited to either the grease trap or the drainpipe.
Gurgling noises or backflow
If there is backflow or an overflow, follow the store’s emergency procedures first to prevent hygiene risks, slips, and equipment damage, and contact the facility manager promptly.
Odors coming up from a drain opening
Factors other than dirt, such as the trap seal, ventilation, piping, or building systems, may be involved. Please share where and when the odor occurs and what work was done recently.
BEFORE CONSULTATION / 02
Please provide whatever information you can before your consultation.
For drain pipes, please tell us what you can about sinks, floor drains, or drain openings that are draining slowly, and where they are located. If an on-site inspection or additional materials are needed, we’ll advise you after learning more about the situation.
- Locations of slow-draining sinks, floor drains, and drain openings
- When it occurs, drainage volume, and whether there is backflow or leakage
- Grease Trap Cleaning Schedule and Past Responses
- Drainage route diagrams, inspection openings, and conditions for bringing in equipment and working hours
Do not add chemicals or mix different detergents. Drain cleaning is separate from repairs or inspections of building equipment. We’ll clarify the work scope after confirming responsibilities with the property manager and existing contractors.
We’ll advise whether work on the drain pipes can be carried out, along with the method, schedule, and cost, after checking the equipment’s condition and the requirements of the location, region, contract, and facility.
QUESTIONS / 03
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use an over-the-counter product when the drain is slow?
Do not add or mix chemicals if you are unsure whether they are compatible with the equipment or products already used. Record the product name and when it was used, then consult the person in charge or a specialist contractor in accordance with store procedures.
What should I do if several drains are slow at the same time?
The issue may involve shared or building-side drainage facilities, not just individual equipment inside the store. Check procedures for water use and emergency contacts, and consult the facility manager.
