Drainage and Floors / 01
Set the scope separately for the covers, channels, and floor
A grating usually refers to a drain cover. The cleaning areas and methods differ for the removed cover, inside the channel, the drain opening, and the surrounding kitchen floor. When requesting an estimate, it helps to specify the number or length of the covers, the extent of the channel, and the area of the surrounding floor separately.
Check the material and fastening method of the component, and whether it is damaged or deformed. Store staff should not attempt to handle heavy covers, fixed components, sharp damage, or disassembly of drainage equipment themselves; consult a manager or specialist contractor.
- Grating itself
- We check the material, number and length, clogging, deformation, and whether it can be removed.
- Drainage Channels and Ditches
- We check, as far as possible, the grease, residue, slime, odors, flow, and the length and depth of the channel.
- Surrounding floor
- We check for oil film and slippery areas, flooring, drainage slope, standing water, and the cleaning scope.
- Drain Pipes and Grease Traps
- Cleaning the channels may not be included. We will confirm in the quote whether it is a separate service.

Use routine cleaning and specialist cleaning for different needs
For routine cleaning, check removable parts and visible dirt in accordance with the store’s procedures and equipment instructions. Do not mix chemicals, use them in ways not stated on the label, or pour strong chemicals into drains.
If grease has hardened, odors or blockages persist, or components are damaged, we won’t assume cleaning alone will solve the problem. We can also discuss inspecting and repairing the drainage system or flooring.

Information to share before requesting a quote
Please share what you know about the store, kitchen operating hours, number and length of grates, location and extent of the drain, dirt, odors or slippery conditions, and preferred work hours. If dimensions or material are unknown, do not force the grates off. Share photos of the overall area and any spots of concern in accordance with your internal rules.
Check which areas are included in the quote: covers, channels, drainpipes, grease traps, and surrounding floors. Also confirm protective coverings, collected waste, and how additional work will be approved.

Will cleaning the grating also clean the drainpipe?
