Information for Store Operations

Preventing slippery kitchen floors

Persistent slippery kitchen floors can make it difficult for staff to move around and increase the risk of falls. Based on photos of slippery areas—such as in front of the fryer or sink, or around floor grating—we assess whether floor cleaning alone may be sufficient or whether the drainage area or the space beneath equipment should also be checked.

GUIDE / 01

Identify the cause based on where the floor is slippery

The dirt left behind varies depending on where the floor is slippery, such as in front of the fryer or sink, around the grating, or beneath equipment. If the problem returns after washing the floor alone, checking the drains and the areas under kitchen equipment can help narrow down the cause.

  • We check for oil film, moisture, detergent residue, worn flooring, and slime around drains.
  • Areas beneath kitchen equipment, along walls, and uneven floor surfaces can also be included.
  • The estimate can also include the possibility that the flooring material is deteriorated or needs repair.

We will explain what needs to be checked before work, based on photos

Photos showing the entire floor, slippery traffic routes, drains, grates, beneath kitchen equipment, and worn flooring can help us consider the cleaning method, drying time, furniture moving, and any work to be done at the same time.

  • Photos of slippery areas, areas where an oil film remains, and areas where water pools.
  • Flooring material, drainage slope, and kitchen equipment that cannot be moved.
  • Permitted work hours, drying time, and locations where water can be used.

When to Use Routine Cleaning or Specialist Cleaning

Separating areas maintained with daily mopping from dirt that requires specialist cleaning can make it easier to manage slippery floors while reducing the burden on staff. After the work, we record priority areas for use in deciding on monthly cleaning or one-off services.

  • We record areas where residue tends to remain after routine cleaning in our post-service report.
  • It may also be advisable to check the grease trap, drains, and pest control needs.
  • We will keep store-by-store records of the next floor cleaning date and work performed.

When a restaurant drain flows slowly, smells, or backs up, we explain the order in which to check the drain opening, U-shaped channel, grease trap, and drainpipe, as well as when to consult a professional.

For restaurant grease trap cleaning, you can ask us about odors, clogs, grease and sludge, pest activity, and coordinating the work with drainpipe and kitchen floor cleaning.

Send photos of the symptoms

Please send photos of current issues, such as odors, clogs, slippery floors, pests, or air conditioning problems, along with information about your store. We will explain the available services and whether an on-site inspection is needed.

QUESTIONS / FAQ

Questions about preventing slippery kitchen floors

What causes kitchen floors to become slippery?

Slipperiness can result from a combination of oil film, moisture, food scraps, worn flooring, and dirt around drains. Buildup under kitchen equipment or along walls can also cause slipping, so please tell us about areas that are difficult to reach during routine cleaning.

Can I leave slippery kitchen floors to professional cleaners?

After assessing the flooring material and condition of the soiling, we can provide kitchen floor cleaning. Checking the area alongside grease traps, drainage, and pest control can also help identify areas prone to recurring problems. You can request an estimate by sending us the number of stores, work locations, and preferred work times.

Can kitchen floor cleaning be done after closing?

We can accommodate work after closing, early in the morning, on closed days, or when the store is unoccupied. Planning ahead for floor drying time, noise, entry and exit, security disarming, and key handover can help the work proceed smoothly. Send us the number of stores, work areas, and preferred work times to request an estimate.
