HVAC and Ventilation / Kitchen Ducts

Grease buildup, odors, and poor ventilation in kitchen ducts

Range hoods, filters, ducts, and exhaust fans are different parts of the exhaust path that carries oil smoke. We check conditions such as smoke, odors, and dripping oil, as well as access panels and duct routing, and clarify the scope of cleaning and equipment inspection.

SIGNS / 01

Issues to look out for with kitchen ducts

Kitchen duct symptoms and equipment conditions vary depending on the model, installation environment, and store operations. The examples below are intended to help organize the situation when making an inquiry. If there is a hazard, prioritize the store or facility’s safety procedures over work or photography.

01

Grease dripping from the hood or ducts

We check where grease has accumulated, the cleaning scope, and the location of access panels. Cleaning only the hood’s surface is not the same as work inside the duct.

02

Smoke or odors linger in the kitchen

Several factors may be involved, including the filter, duct, fan, and air supply. We will identify the types of cooking and times of day when the symptoms occur.

03

Work involving heights or areas around open flames is required

We confirm in advance the protective measures, access restrictions, distance from equipment with open flames, and facility work permits. If a fire-safety determination is required, please check with the relevant authority or a qualified professional.

BEFORE CONSULTATION / 02

Please provide whatever information you can before your consultation.

Please tell us what you can about the number of hoods, duct routes, and the locations of access panels and exhaust outlets. If an on-site inspection or additional materials are needed, we will advise you after learning more about the situation.

  • Number of hoods, duct routing, and locations of access panels and exhaust outlets
  • Number of filters and locations of grease drips or dirt
  • Exhaust fan location, unusual noise, and when smoke lingers
  • Work Permits and Protection Requirements for Rooftops, Elevated Areas, and Areas Around Open Flames
About the Scope of Services

The hood, filters, inside of the ducts, and exhaust fan are separate work areas. Fire safety equipment assessments and inspections, and electrical equipment repairs, should not be treated as part of cleaning. Please confirm who is responsible for any specialist work required.

We will advise whether work can be performed on a kitchen duct, as well as the method, schedule, and cost, after checking the equipment's condition and the requirements of the store, region, contract, and facility.

QUESTIONS / 03

Frequently Asked Questions

If I have my range hood cleaned, will the kitchen ducts be cleaned too?

The hood, filters, inside of the ducts, and exhaust fan are separate work scopes. Please check that the quote specifies the areas included and excluded.

Can I consult you even if I do not have duct drawings?

Yes. Even without drawings, you can tell us what you know, such as the store location, the number of hoods and fans, any symptoms, and whether there is an access panel. We’ll let you know if additional materials or an on-site inspection are needed.
